The Central Asia Climate Foundation, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Nations Country Team discussed preparations for the Regional Climate Sum

Today, a high-level working meeting took place in Astana, bringing together the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Central Asia Climate Foundation (Project Office for Climate Change and Green Energy), and the United Nations Country Team.

The meeting convened key stakeholders involved in the preparation of a major international event aimed at creating a platform for strengthening cooperation among Central Asian countries in addressing climate change.

During the meeting, representatives of the Project Office presented the current status of preparatory activities, outlined key priorities, and shared strategic directions for further work. Special attention was given to the coordination of efforts between national and international partners, mobilization of expert support, and ensuring broad international engagement.

The parties discussed mechanisms and tools for collaboration, including international cooperation and alignment of actions within the framework of the global environmental agenda.

The Regional Climate Summit presents a unique opportunity for Central Asian countries to join forces in addressing common environmental challenges. Fruitful cooperation with the United Nations and the international community is expected to ensure concrete and measurable outcomes.

As a reminder, the initiative to host the Regional Climate Summit in 2026 was first announced by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on the international stage in 2023. Kazakhstan will serve as the host country for this significant event, which aims to foster regional dialogue, strengthen partnerships, and develop integrated solutions to global climate challenges.

Support and cooperation with the UN and international organizations will help ensure broad stakeholder engagement and the effective achievement of the Summit’s goals. The 2026 Regional Climate Summit is a step toward a sustainable future for Central Asia and the world.
