Project Office and UNICEF sign Memorandum of Understanding to Protect Children from Climate Change Impacts

The Project Office and UNICEF have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at protecting children from the effects of climate change. This marks the beginning of a significant partnership focused on climate action for children and youth in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

The agreement outlines joint efforts to implement programs and initiatives that enhance climate resilience and support a green transition. It also includes supporting the participation of children and youth in climate events at national, regional, and global levels, such as the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the Central Asian Climate Summit, and other relevant events.

Special emphasis will be placed on collecting and utilizing data regarding the impact of climate change on children. The Memorandum encompasses various initiatives aimed at raising awareness of children’s rights, ensuring inclusivity, and supporting climate policy.

Following the meeting, priority areas for cooperation between the Project Office and UNICEF were identified.
